Christmas box appeal:
Thank you to all of you who sent in the Christmas gift boxes, we had 12 again this year. I know that the children were very moved by the film I showed them in assembly of the boxes being delivered to children in the third world. They were really stunned to find that these toys and gifts were often the only presents that these children had ever received. What a very special thing to be part of. Thank you!

Please remember the special service at St Mary’s Woburn where the gifts will be blessed and the congregation celebrates the start of their journey.

Posada:
You may remember that last year several families took part in the ‘Posada’ and found it to be a lovely experience for their children. The Posada is the symbolic Advent journey of Mary and Joseph, where the nativity crib and figures are collected from school and then passed from one family to another during Advent. The last family or a member of the school staff will then return the Nativity scene to the church during the Christmas Eve Service. If you would like to be a part of this symbolic journey please fill in the form at the foot of the letter and return it to school as soon as possible.

Do your children / child have access to a computer at home?
A very kind parent has offered the school a basic, but functional computer. It runs windows XP and has an internet card installed.

If you do not already have a computer at home and would be interested in having one available for your child / children please fill in the form at the foot of this letter and we will put your names into a hat and draw a lucky winner. (Don’t worry about technical support setting it up I’m sure we can provide that too!) Deadline for applications is Friday 21st November 2008. Good luck!

Parent information evenings:
Over the past 3 years I have organised several parent information evenings for you. The purpose of these evenings has been to explain our approaches to subjects such as; reading, spelling / ‘Sounds Write’, methods of calculation in mathematics and the teaching of drugs and sex education in school. I am aware that parents have a range of different issues that they would like to have further information about. In order to meet your needs / requirements I would really appreciate if you inform me what topics you would like me to arrange for you during the next two terms. It may be that you would like to have a repeat sessions of the things I have mentioned or perhaps you would like me to arrange ICT sessions for parents to enable you to support children’s learning in this area . Do please let me know!
