Dear Parents
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a
lovely Christmas holiday and has recovered from New Year celebrations.
Our topic for this term is Homes and Houses.
| Literacy |
Whole class Big
Book sessions. Sounds-Write groups. Traditional Fairy Tales,
story characters, story settings and descriptions. |
| Numeracy |
Counting,
writing numbers, ordering, place value, addition, subtraction,
shape, time money, measures.
Science Materials and their properties. Investigating a range of
materials in and out of the classroom to discover their
properties. |

Making
structures and building houses. |
| Geography |
(First half
term) The village of Tocuaro in Mexico. Looking at the people
and their lives and comparing this to life in Ridgmont. |
| History |
(second half
term) The history of houses. Looking at some of the older houses
in Ridgmont and considering life before electricity. |
| RE |
Special People.
Starting with our family and local community and then broadening
to learn about key figures in world religions. |
| ICT |
Unit 1c the
information around us Unit 1d Labelling and classifying. |
| Art |
Exploring
pattern and texture to make rubbings collages and prints. Clay
modelling. |
| PE |
Mondays and
Thursdays, Ball Skills and Apparatus. Please ensure your child’s
PE kit is in school every Monday to remain in school all week.
Trainers or plimsolls will be needed this term (see separate
letter.) Please remove any earrings on these days. |

Class 2 Homework: regular reading,

As always please don’t hesitate to
raise any issues or concerns as soon as possible. I will be on the
playground every morning from 8.50am, or we can arrange a meeting after
school.
