Welcome to Nursery/R - Emerald Class!
Look, one of the big children from Year 3 came and helped us turn our home corner into a doctor's waiting room this week. We lined up lots of chairs round the edge!
Efforts to keep cool!
Our topic this half term is 'People Who Help Us - The Real Superheroes!' We have some workmen in EMERALD, as it happens!
Check out our new display in the library....thumb print ladybirds.
Please note that when your child turns five years old they are no longer eligible for free school milk. You can opt continue to have milk if you pay the company, Cool Milk, however. Please see Mrs Begley for further information.
Ahhhh! There are shape dragons loose in class!
We have taken delivery of some caterpillars! We are hoping they are going to turn into some beautifuls butterflies - like the ones which were flying about in our classroom this week!
We celebrated the start of the summer term with some toast and butter!
PE in EMERALD
We will be doing PE outside this term, therefore the children will need trainers (preferable to black plimsolls). Please name all clothing...we tend to have a weekly impromptu game of 'pass the kit'!
PE kit....shorts (black/blue), white T-shirt, tracksuit and trainers.
Easter nexts in Emerald!
Oh the anticipation
The important bit - the eggs
If any of you would like to come and 'play' on a regular basis we'd be delighted to hear from you. Do you have a warm coat or do you enjoy the summer sun? We have a fantastic outdoor area!
We have a new piece of equipment in EMERALD - a white tuff spot! The children use coloured pens to write on it and it is a clear background to do other colourful things e.g. blow colourful bubbles! We've had great fun with it this week.
- We don't do Show and Tell as such in EMERALD Reception. But I would love to see things that the children have made at home. So, do bring those items in any day.
- Please could we ask that the children leave their toys at home unless requested for a specific learning experience (we will let you know).
Pancake day fun. Delicious!
Eggs, milk and flour...
Stir it well!
We have been writing addition sums and partitioning 10.
Please remember your library book on a Monday. We have moved the library to a much better room (it really is fabulous - come and have a look) and have our own session on a Monday afternoon. We won't be able to issue another book without the return of the original.
The Reception children have weekly spellings to practise at home and in school. We follow the Letters and Sounds and Sound-Write programmes for phonics. Please help them with these, using the 'Look, Cover, Write, Check' approach. Please do come and touch base with me about your child's progress.
Welcome to EMERALD class Chinese restaurant!
Xīnnián kuàilè (Happy New Year)
Rice or noodles?
We welcome 'Carrotty' to Ridgmont. Carrot's sister (yes really) has joined us. We'll keep her in the main school, probably in the front group room so do pop by to say 'Hello', but the EMERALD rota for visits home will still apply! We wish her a long and happy life - she's extremely cute.
In December we purchased a fantastic carpet for EMERALD classroom. The nursery children each have their own animal to sit on. It's amazing for keeping bottoms in one place!
The children are keen to keep the carpet clean.
Do these tidy youngsters belong to you?
We've read the tale of the Magic Porridge Pot. We made and ate porridge - everyone decided to opt for syrup as a topping in preference to banana (too 'slimy' someone said!).
We have even experimented with our own overflowing porridge pots!
Sorting 3D shapes! Did you know they have 'faces' and not 'sides'?!
This is our new outdoor music area.
Look what happened when the cold weather turned our water tray to ice! The children have had great fun breaking the ice and discovering water underneath.
Quick! Rescue the fish.
Thank heavens I'm wearing gloves!
Join in with the Numtums and learn about numbers from 1 to 10.
Play along with the Alphablocks and have fun with the letters of the alphabet.
